Summer Night
A warm summer’s night,
A cloudless night with the Milky Way shining as bright as you,
The fire flies buzz by your pretty face,
And you face grows yellow as the fire flies fly by,
Your heart silence the night time singing crickets,
As they sing and chirp for love, laughter and life,
Your heart begins to beat to mine,
Our heartbeats synchronized to the bullfrog’s beating hum,
Peeper’s hop out to say hello as they scream out for love,
Hoping to steal a lovely girl like I have,
But it was your smile, laugh, eyes and the glitter on your face,
That made me sing and chirp like a love drunk canary,
A quiet pair of loons only to sing when together,
And sing we do when the moon shines bright over the lake,
But it is when your cell phone rings that I grow sad,
Your dad says its time to go,
Our song and dance done,
I close my eyes when your hand leaves mine,
Only to be greeted by a warm kiss on this hot summer’s night.
