My Freedom
When we were all young, dating was all but a game,
And as we grew older things faded and changed,
Now everyone seems to be dating who they think is the one,
But still greeted with hugs and jokes from my friends,
My old girlfriends are now my close sisters,
And my life is good with all my family around me,
It is only when they have to leave my hands remind me,
My hands are still greeted with each other,
I wish that some of my dreams would become reality,
A warm hand to greet mine,
Eyes that inspire and create curiosity,
A smile with truths and a tongue that lies,
A heart that rings and mind to guide,
Elements that can let the truth of who I am be set free,
My freedom will then flow like water,
But for now my water of truth is locked behind a dam.
