Je t’aime
( French for I Love You)
For years I’ve been mistrusted and mislead,
Stabbed by the dagger of love,
Only to lose a close friend to the death of love,
So I slowly found out what true love was,
Only to be cut short,
Chances I’ve never been given to show my love,
But now I’ve met a girl I’ve known for a while,
We laugh and joke all the time,
But when I ask her she tells me no,
But I’m willing to take things slowly,
And what ever I learn I keep locked away,
But I keep my passion locked away unsure what she would say,
I wish to tell her je t’aime,
But my tongue is bitten before anything is said,
Fear keeps me from hurting her,
The fear of not knowing what she would say,
So now I say je t’aime in the silence of the night,
Only wishing I could tell her or know what she would say,
Love untapped is a burden of pain when love is cried out,
So now i cry out je t’aime in the dead of night,
Wishing she could hear my cry,
So she could listen to three words that I cry about,
je t’aime.
