Falling Like Fall
When I lost my girl to someone else,
It turned summer’s warmth and color,
To falling leaves of red and yellow, and cold like stone,
Cast away to the wind, left in the cold of winter,
I join other souls that have fallen like I,
We show beauty in being alone, but it isn’t worth our time,
We all miss the warmth and safety of summer,
Over the cold hearted rejection of fall’s poisonous love,
Love we loved while it lasted,
Only cast to the winds and the fate of winter,
Winter to see if we survive,
Falling like a leaf of red or yellow is neither the beginning nor the end,
We either die as the dirt of earth,
Or survive to continue as a young growing tree,
To shed leaves as summer turns to winter.
